How do I install a reader?

Step 1: Note the reader number

Note the reader number and pass it on to the person with admin rights in Flux. The reader number is on the back and consists of 4 or 5 digits. 'W-' precedes this number sequence. To see this number, you need to remove the reader from the holder.

When the reader is mounted on the wall, you can remove it from the holder by inserting a pin in the recess at the top right of the holder (the narrow side of the holder).

When the reader is lying on a table, you can insert a pin in the recess at the bottom left of the holder (the narrow side of the holder).

Step 2: Install the reader

Mount the reader at the desired location in the building.

Note: it is important that a reader is not mounted on or near metal or a metal construction. This disrupts the signal between the gateway and the reader. If necessary, mount a wooden plate between the steel/metal construction and the reader.

Note: The reader is not waterproof.

Step 3: Connect reader to gateway

Then it's important to have the reader connect to the gateway. You can connect a reader to the gateway in two ways:

  • Hold down the IN and OUT button: you can connect a reader by holding down the IN and OUT button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. When the reader connects to the gateway, you'll see a blue light briefly.
  • 'Clock' with a test card: You can connect a reader using a test card that comes with newer gateways. You 'clock' with this on the reader. When the reader connects to the gateway, you'll see a blue light briefly.

How can I reset a reader?

You can reset a reader in two ways:

  • Hold down the IN and OUT button: you can connect a reader by holding down the IN and OUT button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. When the reader connects to the gateway, you'll see a blue light briefly.
  • 'Clock' with a test card: You can connect a reader using a test card that comes with newer gateways. You 'clock' with this on the reader. When the reader connects to the gateway, you'll see a blue light briefly.

How do I replace a reader with a low battery?

First, it's important to be sure if the reader has a low battery. When a reader has a (nearly) empty battery, the support department always receives a notification. This notification will be forwarded to the temp agency or organization, and a replacement reader can then be ordered.

Note: never replace (when suspecting) a low battery yourself. The registrations that come from the reader are then no longer reliable.

Follow steps 1 through 3 when replacing a reader with a low battery.

How can I clean the reader?

You can clean the reader with a slightly damp cloth and optionally with alcohol. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents.

How do I install a gateway?

Step 1: Note the gateway number

Note the gateway number and location and pass this on to the person with admin rights in Flux. The gateway number is on the inside of the adapter and consists of 4 digits.

You don't need to enter the gateway number in Flux. The number automatically becomes visible when the reader is connected and there is a connection between the reader and the gateway. However, we recommend noting down the number and location for your own administration.

Step 2: Install the gateway

You install the gateway by plugging it into the power outlet. The gateway then needs a few minutes to a quarter of an hour to start up. Two lights should be visible on the gateway:

  • A green light stays on constantly. This means the gateway has power.
  • A red light starts flashing quickly. This means it's searching for a connection with the GPRS network. When the gateway has a connection with the network, the red light flashes slowly and regularly: about once per second.

Step 3: Connect reader to gateway

After installing the gateway, the reader needs to connect to the gateway.

Note: it is important that the gateway is not mounted on or near steel/metal or a steel/metal construction. This disrupts the signal between the gateway and the reader. If necessary, mount a wooden plate between the steel/metal construction and the gateway.

How can I reset a gateway?

You reset the gateway by unplugging it, leaving it unplugged for a few minutes, and then plugging it back in. The gateway then needs a few minutes to a quarter of an hour to start up. Two lights should then be visible on the gateway:

  • A green light turns on indicating that the gateway has power.
  • Also, a red light starts flashing quickly. It's then searching for a connection with the GPRS network. When the gateway has a connection with the network, the red light flashes slowly and regularly: about once per second.

When you've reset the gateway, the reader needs to reconnect to the gateway. You do this by resetting the reader.

How can I clean the gateway?

You can clean the gateway with a slightly damp cloth and optionally with alcohol. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
